📘✨ Guide to Using the Toilet and Washing Your Hands ✨🎒 This guide is an invaluable resource to help preschoolers master two essential skills: going to the bathroom and washing their hands independently. Through a playful and positive approach, the guide accompanies children in a gradual learning process, adapting to their pace and promoting their autonomy.

🖍️ Benefits:

  • Gradual skill development

  • Progressive stimulus for independence

  • Disease prevention

  • Hygiene habits for life

  • Greater confidence and self-esteem

🪄 How It Works:

The guide is divided into two sections: Using the Bathroom and Washing Your Hands. Each section presents progressive stages, from familiarization to independent mastery, with specific activities and strategies for each stage .

Bathroom Use:

  1. Stage 1: Familiarization: The goal is for the child to become familiar with the bathroom and eliminate fear. The child is encouraged to lower the toilet seat, sit on it for a few seconds, and practice raising and lowering pants.

  2. Stage 2: Basic Skills: The skills from Stage 1 are consolidated and new ones are introduced. The child is rewarded for being dry, he is taught to raise and lower pants, unbutton his pants, lower and raise his diaper, etc.

  3. Stage 3: Independence in the Process: Previous skills are consolidated and independence is advanced. The child is reminded to go to the bathroom, he is rewarded for sitting and peeing, a "Potty Chart" is created.

  4. Stage 4: Independent Mastery: The child is able to go to the bathroom alone. He is reminded to go to the bathroom, clean and put down the lid, and is offered minimal help with fastening and unfastening clothes .

Hand Washing:

  1. Stage 1: Familiarization: The goal is for the child to become familiar with the handwashing process.

  2. Stage 2: Basic Skills: The skills from Stage 1 are consolidated and new ones are introduced. The child is helped to turn on the tap, put his hands under the water for a longer time, wet his hands with soap, etc.

  3. Stage 3: Independence in the Process: Previous skills are consolidated and independence is advanced.

  4. Stage 4: Independent Mastery: The child washes his hands independently and completely.

🧠 Development:

The guide is based on the child's natural development, considering their learning pace and individual needs. Each stage focuses on specific skills and offers activities and strategies that adapt to the child's developmental level.

  • Keep wet wipes and hand sanitizer on hand in case of need.

  • Turn learning into a game: Sing songs, use puppets, or tell stories about using the bathroom and washing hands.
